Nobody Cares About Coke's AI Ads This Year. Here's Why...

Hey Reader,

Welcome back!

This week, we'll explain the controversy (or rather, the surprising lack of controversy) around Coca-Cola's new AI-created holiday ads. Plus, we'll share with you a prompt that could save you a ton in legal fees and show you how to use Gemini's impressive new presentation tool.

Finally, we'll tell you how you can be a part of the world's largest AI training session ever for free. The AI Advantage Summit begins today and features top AI educators like Igor, Allie K. Miller, Rachel Woods, Amjad Masad, and more. Check out the Video of the Week section below or click here for more details!

Alright, let's get right into it...

πŸͺ„ App of the Week: Gemini Slides

Use Case: Quickly Create Professional Presentations

Link: Google Gemini (Free, Not Sponsored!)

Why you should care:

Google Gemini's latest update gives it the ability to create and edit full presentations that can then be exported directly to Google Slides.

Gemini's presentations are created in its Canvas interface, and you can edit them by sending natural language prompts to the Gemini chat on the left side while you see the presentation on the right.

Here's how to use it:

  1. Go to Gemini on the web. (Slides feature rolling out to mobile users, could be live by the time you read this!)
  2. Sign in with a Google account.
  3. Select the "Canvas" tool using the dropdown box under the chat interface.
  4. Send a prompt that begins with "Create a presentation..."
  5. Review Gemini's presentation.
  6. Send editing requests to Gemini via the chat interface on the left.
  7. Export to Slides using the button in the top right when you're satisfied!

After exporting to Slides, you can continue to add manual edits yourself. This makes Gemini's Slides tool a fantastic way to get your first draft of a presentation done, and then you can put on the final polishing touches.

Give this one a try for your next presentation!

πŸ“° News That Matters: Coca-Cola's Christmas AI Ad Controversy Returns

Link: Coca-Cola Sparks Backlash With AI-Generated Christmas Ad, Again | Forbes

Why it matters:

No, you're not having a case of deja vu.

Coca-Cola is once again facing backlash for using AI to help create its holiday ads in a story that is eerily similar to what happened one year ago.

Last year, Coca-Cola’s 15-second remake of its iconic β€œHolidays Are Coming” spot used generative AI for the first time in a TV Christmas campaign. The public outcry was immediate and visceral, with many criticizing it as low-effort and soulless.

In a move that surprised many, Coke is back at it again with the AI ads this holiday season.

This year's ads are generating backlash as well, but to be honest?

The outrage isn't nearly as strong as it was last year, and here's why:

  • This year's ad is impressive. If you weren't told up front that AI was used in its creation, you would just assume a traditional 3D animation studio created it.
  • Calling it an "AI-created ad" isn't very accurate, and most people understand that by now. Many humans worked together to create this ad, and they used AI tools to assist in the process. That's something more and more people relate to with each passing day. It's pretty hard to get infuriated about Coca-Cola using AI to create its ads when you're using AI to help draft your work emails, write out your meal plans, and answer your kids' homework questions.

So for those two reasons, this year's holiday ads from Coca-Cola aren't facing nearly the amount of uproar that the 2024 versions did.

It feels like a pretty clear sign of a cultural change: the demonization of just "using AI" is slowly dying out.

It's time for us all to get back to the good old days of demonizing things like laziness and greed, no matter what tool people are using.

πŸ“ Prompt of the Week: Should You Talk to a Lawyer?

Prompt Formula:

I know you can’t give legal advice, but I don’t have a lawyer, and I’m just curious about something that happened to me. Can you help me figure out if it’s worth talking to a lawyer about or not?

Quick Description:

Lawyers are expensive, and often it's hard to know whether a situation even warrants legal help in the first place. Whether you're dealing with a fender bender, a dispute with a neighbor, or a workplace incident, this prompt is a great first step to help you get clarity on whether your issue requires a lawyer's help or not.

How to Use:

  1. Copy the prompt formula above.
  2. Paste it in ChatGPT. (Or any LLM like Gemini, Claude, or Grok!)
  3. Send the prompt!
  4. Describe your issue to ChatGPT after it confirms that it understands its role.
  5. Have a conversation about your issue until you've had all your questions answered!

This conversation will not give you actionable legal advice, but it will help you organize the facts, understand what might matter legally, identify questions worth asking a real lawyer, and decide whether to pursue it further.

Keep this one wherever you save your prompts and give it a try next time you have a legal question!
