(There aren't any companies using that slogan yet, right?) OpenAI kicked off DevDay 2025 this week with a keynote presentation filled with a ton of announcements that, when taken together, paint a clear picture of OpenAI's current goal: connecting the dots between where users live (ChatGPT) and where builders get their work done (OpenAI Platform). First up, OpenAI announced new Apps in ChatGPT. Until now, ChatGPT was only capable of connecting to external apps through plugins, GPT actions, or connectors. Now, you can use apps like Booking.com, Canva, Coursera, Figma, Spotify and more directly inside ChatGPT's chat interface. The new Apps in ChatGPT come with built-in discovery too: if you ask ChatGPT to create you a playlist going forward, it will suggest that you use the Spotify app to get it done. All new Apps in ChatGPT are MCP-backed, and developers can start building today with the new Apps SDK, though devs can't submit their apps for public listing until later this year. Next up, OpenAI released a new set of tools called AgentKit. Simply put: everyone talks about agents, but very few AI agents actually survive production and implementation. AgentKit is OpenAI's answer to this issue with a new visual Agent Builder for designing logic and testing workflows, a ChatKit tool to add customizable chat interfaces to your own products, new Evals for Agents to score and optimize behavior, and a Connector Registry to link agents into internal systems and third-party tools. In addition, OpenAI also announced that GPT-5-Codex is out of research preview and is now generally available, plus they've added a new Slack integration for GPT-5-Codex that lets teams ask questions and generate code directly in team Slack threads. And finally, while not part of OpenAI's DevDay plans, Sam Altman gave an important update on the future of Sora 2 via a personal blog post. Going forward, rightsholders will have more granular control over what content can and can't be generated with Sora 2, meaning the wild west days of creating copyright-protected content are coming to an end. Sam also warned that Sora users should expect rapid change in the coming weeks as OpenAI figures out the best path for Sora. OpenAI's annual DevDay is like Christmas for builders, and apparently, builders have been good this year! Get ready for a ton of new AI tools and ChatGPT connections in the coming months. 📝 Prompt of the Week: Learn How to Do Anything on a Computer Prompt Formula: Quick Description: How to Use:
