Hey Reader, Welcome back! This week, OpenAI announced that two major changes to ChatGPT: age prediction and ads are on the way. We'll break down everything you need to know about the changes coming to ChatGPT in News That Matters. Plus, we'll show you how to use AI to generate videos directly from an audio file, share with you a prompt that can improve every single one of your AI outputs, and more. Let's get right into it... 🪄 App of the Week: LTX Audio to Video AI Use Case: Generate Video from Audio Link: LTX Audio to Video AI (Freemium, Not Sponsored!) Why you should care: The audio-to-video AI model uses the audio itself to drive the pacing, motion, shot changes, and scene structure of the video output. This makes it especially useful for turning podcasts, voiceovers, music-based content and more into high-quality video clips with synced audio. Here’s how to use Audio-to-Video in LTX Studio:
Once the video is generated, you can download it as-is, or you can refine shots, adjust visuals, and continue editing inside LTX Studio’s timeline editor. LTX provides free credits each month for free plans, so you can test this feature out for free and see if it's something you want to add to your AI toolkit! 📰 News That Matters: Ads & Age Prediction Coming to ChatGPT
Links: Why it matters: First up: ads are coming to ChatGPT. OpenAI officially confirmed that ads are on their way, and they’ll show up right in your ChatGPT conversations as “sponsored responses” and “recommended” answers. If you’re a free user or on ChatGPT's Go plan, you'll start seeing them soon. Ads will not be coming to users on the Plus or Pro plans, at least for the time being. According to OpenAI, every sponsored answer will be very clearly labeled as such. For years, OpenAI has considered turning to advertising to help fund its efforts, as keeping ChatGPT running, developing new models, and keeping the best AI researchers in the world on staff costs a fortune. And it looks like OpenAI decided it was finally time to implement ads to offset these growing expenses. The second major change coming to ChatGPT is age prediction. Soon, ChatGPT will start inferring how old each user is based on the way they type, the questions they ask, and other subtle signals. Depending on how old ChatGPT thinks you are, you'll get different levels of safety filtering, different kinds of answers, and maybe even access to fewer features. (OpenAI was vague about that last bit.) OpenAI's stated goal with this change is to keep kids safer by filtering out mature content, but this age prediction update is absolutely linked with the implementation of ads. OpenAI can't sell ads in ChatGPT without knowing who's going to see those ads in the chat. Advertisers want age groups in order to help target their ads, not to mention all of the legal restraints around advertising to minors in various countries worldwide. Age prediction gives OpenAI the tool it needed to be able to sell ads and serve them responsibly. (Translation: legally.) So what does this mean for the future of AI? Every single player in the AI space will be watching how this plays out in order to see what works and what doesn't when it comes to implementing ads in AI systems. Whether ads in ChatGPT are a smashing success or a spectacular failure, it will set a precedent, and that will heavily impact how companies like Google and Meta approach ads in their AI systems in the future. Whatever happens next will define the AI industry for years to come. 📝 Prompt of the Week: Quick and Effective Context Prompt Formula: Quick Description: One of the biggest hurdles in getting high-quality AI output is providing enough context. Most people guess at what the AI needs to know, but this prompt forces ChatGPT to tell you what information it’s missing. This takes all the guesswork out of prompt engineering and helps ensure that the final result is perfectly aligned with your goals. How to Use:
Once ChatGPT has the context it requested, it will be able to produce a much more accurate and helpful final result. 📽️ Video of the Week: MIT Researchers DESTROY the Context Window Limit MIT just made a massive breakthrough in the realm of LLM context windows. If you read that sentence and thought to yourself, "What?? That's amazing, tell me more!" This video is for you. But wait! Even if you thought, "I have no idea what a context window is," this video is for you too! In it, Matthew Berman goes through the recently published Recursive Language Models paper, explaining exactly what context windows are and what this breakthrough means for the future of LLMs. If that sounds interesting to you, give it a watch! 🎤 Discussion of the Week: Publish Books With the Help of AI We love seeing our community members move from experimenting with AI to shipping real, tangible products. This week, we’re celebrating AI Amplifier Club member Mariah (Mari) Ribeiro, who shared how she has been using AI as a creative partner to publish a series of children’s books and her autobiography on Amazon. By pairing her original poems and stories with imagery rendered through DALL-E, Mari has been able to bring her stories to life in a way that was previously only possible for professional illustrators. But the best part of this post was the knowledge sharing it sparked in the comments:
Whether you’re looking for technical how-to guides on image generation or a supportive group to help you cross the finish line on a creative project, this is exactly what happens every day inside our private group. Want to join a community that actually builds things? Sign up for the AI Amplifier Club for $1 for your first 30 days! That's all for this week! See you next Thursday.
